TRADITION OF EXCELLENCE
The Golden Bears Battalion has produced fine Army Officers since 1870. The Army Reserve Officer’s Training Corps (ROTC) is a unique elective course of study, taken in conjunction with any academic major that, upon graduation, leads to a commission as a 2nd Lieutenant in the United States Army. Today, we at the Golden Bear Battalion continue that tradition of excellence through a rigorous and highly supportive program centered around the development of Scholars, Athletes, and Leaders.
As an Army ROTC Cadet you can receive many benefits that you can earn. Speak to Cadets individually and you will find that each will tell you of much more personal benefits and gains that they have found in their development as Scholars, Athletes, and Leaders.
Two, Three, and Four-year ROTC Scholarships available that provide either full tuition or up to $10,000 for room and board. Additionally, cadets will receive other monthly stipends that help offset the other costs.
ROTC is open to all men and women enrolled as full time students at UC Berkeley or any of the numerous affiliate schools at neighboring colleges. ROTC classes are taken for academic elective credit and fulfill some college breadth requirements.
It’s not all about spending time in the classroom. There are many opportunities for you to get to know your fellow cadets better and increase your skills in a variety of areas. Learn more about these events and activities below.
